Objective To investigate the effects of zinc deficiency on some feeding related factors in serum and hypothalamus of newborn broilers. Methods 288 male AA broilers of 1d age were randomly divided into three groups according to body weight: zinc deficiency group (10.1mg / kg Zn), normal group (41.8mg / kg Zn) and matched group. 8 replicates per group, 12 chicks per replicate. Results Zinc deficiency significantly reduced the daily gain and feed conversion rate of broiler chickens in the first 2 weeks after hatching, and the age-related effects on average daily feed intake (ADFI) had no significant effect on ADFI in the first 2 days. D3 appeared significantly lower. Zinc deficiency significantly reduced the level of serum zinc, glucose and leptin, significantly increased neuropeptide Y in the hypothalamus and its gene expression, while the serum insulin, glucagon, insulin / glucagon molar ratio and hypothalamic gland Glycosidic-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activity had no significant effect. Conclusions Zinc deficiency can change the level of some food intake regulatory factors and gene expression, but the changing trend does not accord with the regulation of food intake and the decrease of animal feed intake. The mechanism still needs to be studied.
