Native American literature has a very long history and is an important part of American literature. The arrival of European settlers is a huge blow to Indian natives, bringing a devastating blow to their lives. Whilst a series of white people, similar to genocidal tactics, are cruel, they can not destroy the Indians’ roots. Before they survived thousands of miles on this land in North America, they formed a literary tradition quite characteristic of their own nationality, retaining a myriad of myths and legends and historical stories that today are all considered to be a valuable literary legacy.
