Objective: To investigate the relationship between plasma homocysteine (HCY) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels and acute cerebral infarction. Methods: The levels of plasma HCY and SOD in 156 patients with acute cerebral infarction were measured and correlated. Results: Before treatment, the level of serum Hcy in patients with acute cerebral infarction was higher than that in the normal control group (P <0.05), while the level of SOD in the patients with acute cerebral infarction was lower than that in the normal control group (P <0.05) 0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, there was no significant difference in HCY and SOD levels between the two groups (P> 0.05). Conclusion: The changes of serum Hcy and SOD levels in patients with acute cerebral infarction have important clinical value in judging the disease and evaluating the curative effect.
