Like the hard surfaces of streets and sidewalks in cities, the horizontal or vertical surfaces of urban buildings have also led to rising temperatures in metropolitan cities around the world. However, no improvement measures have been taken. Instead, the facade of a building is seen as a structure for indoor personnel to provide a comfortable environment, ignoring its impact on the outdoors or as a symbol of its owner’s recognizable beauty. This article proposes the concept of building facades as an “outdoor pedestrian welfare stewardship” and the concept of public health as an additional function of the façade, emphasizing the consideration of the interests and health of outdoor pedestrians. If you look at the total surface area of an urban building as part of an urban infrastructure, its role is not only to make outdoor spaces more comfortable, hygienic, and pleasant, but to help alleviate the larger problem of rising urban temperatures .
