Solid materials can be analyzed using the improved sensitivity of Graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy. The authors applied different concentrations of potassium dichromate (K 2 Cr 2 O 7) dissolved in petrolatum to the epidermis and performed the test. Twenty-five and twenty-four hours later, the specimens were taken for analysis of chromium content. In general, the concentration of chromium has two great points, one is in the epidermis and dermis junction, the other in the upper and middle dermis. The results at these three different times were very close, reaching a steady state after 5 hours of chromium penetration, which lasted for 72 hours.
