The Syllabus of Ideas has shown itself to be an important book for language teachers. This book divides into three major parts: The first part, introduces the general thesis, opposes the traditional explanation of the content of the syllabus; The second part, the concrete elucidation of a number of concept areas; The third part, discusses the concept of concept application. In the first part, Wilkins distinguishes what he calls the language-learn-ng strategies for analysis and synthesis. The former expects students who analyze analytically accepted content to translate unanalyzed language material
