Therefore, the choice of the most advantageous geometric parameters, is one of the important issues in cutting. The size of the relief angle, affecting the friction between the back and the workpiece. The greater the friction, the faster the tool wear. After the tool wear, the relief angle is zero; therefore, friction and cutting temperature rise faster, the tool damage is more intense. So from a wear point of view, you should choose a larger relief angle. However, on the other hand, increasing the clearance angle reduces the wedge angle of the tool and reduces the thermal conductivity of the tool.
