It is found that although many achievements have been made in this area, the theory started late and has a short history of development. These factors led to the criticism of metaphor research in the sources of corpus, research perspectives and the application of multimodal discourse analysis and other shortcomings. The final article points out that these will be important aspects of broadening the field of critical metaphor analysis.
