1 长期来语文教师信奉“语言是一种传播信息,表达思想的工具”的说法,甚至把语言看成只是一套用于人际交流的符号系统。这当然是不错的。但容易忽略语言另一个本质的方面。语言确实是工具,我们可以像劳技课教会学生怎样使用凿子、刨子那样,教会学生怎样使用语言;但是语言同时又具有产生工具的机能。语言不仅是思维表达不可缺少的手段,而且是思维过程的一部分。语言是一种工具,又是人的一部分。语言是人类所有活动中最足以表现人的特点的。
For a long time, language teachers believed that “language is a tool for disseminating information and expressing ideas”, and even regarded language as just a set of symbology for interpersonal communication. This is of course not bad. But it is easy to overlook another essential aspect of the language. Language is indeed a tool, and we teach church students how to use language, like chisels and planing, as taught by skill classes, but at the same time, language has the function of producing tools. Language is not only an indispensable means of thinking, but also part of the process of thinking. Language is a tool, but also a part of man. Language is the most adequate manifestation of humanity in all human activities.
