Finland is one of the countries with very few energy resources. There is almost no fossil fuel reserve. Therefore, energy is heavily dependent on imports. In 1993, 68% of energy consumption was dependent on imports. Energy-intensive industries, such as forestry (papermaking), metal processing, chemical industry and the cold and long natural conditions in winter, make Finland one of the countries with the most per capita energy consumption in the world. In 1993, Finland’s industrial energy consumption reached 47% of the total energy consumption. The per capita electricity consumption was 12,800 kilowatt-hours, and the per capita energy consumption of 6.04 tons of oil was dizzy.
