The etiology and pathogenesis of essential hypertension has not yet been fully elucidated, the onset of sympathetic nervous system may be involved in the promotion and maintenance of elevated blood pressure. In catecholamine (CA) biosynthesis, dopamine-β-hydroxylase (DBH) is a regulatory enzyme that drives the hydroxylation of the β-position of dopamine to form norepinephrine, as shown in Figure 1.
