时光匆匆,转眼已是2002年,纵览步入21世纪的国外塔机行业,总体而言,可以概括为4点:塔机技术无重大突破,仍然与轮式起重机、履带式起重机并列,占据世界工程起重设备的主导地位;国外塔机生产厂商相互兼并仍在继续,如法国波坦归到美国玛尼托瓦克公司的麾下,澳大利亚Favco与丹麦Kroll联合,意大利Comedil被美国特雷克斯收购;对塔机重新分类,将塔机分为6类（见表1）;各知名企业产品系列及产品型号明显增多,20世纪80年代以来世界两家主要塔机厂商的产品系列见表2。
