The couplets are also known as couplets and pairs. It is a unique literary style of the Chinese nation, a form of evolution of poetry, and a combination of calligraphy and art. Legend has it that it began in the Five Dynasties, and the late monk Lord Meng Zeng once had a couplet in the Palace Book, and its associated cloud: “New Year Yuqing, Changjie Festival.” It is said that this is the ancestor of the couplet. Since the Song Dynasty, it has been continuously promoted and used as a living room for learning to decorate and celebrate famous temples. It has become an elegant and popular gift for arts and crafts. It does not have many words, but a wonderful couplet can be compared with the masterpiece of Hung-chuen; it emphasizes duality, flatness, and can show a superb mood on a certain rhythm. The couplet has been widely circulated with its strong vitality and has become one of the national literary forms of the Chinese people’s favorite music.
