In May last year, I attended a symposium on the annual meeting of Chinese English Literature with the theme of “Teaching and Research of British Literature in the 20th Century.” At the meeting place, I noticed that the main theme of this seminar has unwittingly turned to interpret modern and contemporary novels with the theory of feminism. After listening to the essay, there is only one voice in your ears: history of human development is the history of a man oppressing a woman, and literature is the reproduction or accomplice of this history. In the free discussion of this meeting, I pointed out in a low-key way that the relationship between men and women in the work seems to be recognizable from another perspective. It is also unfair to criticize the author by using the words and deeds of the characters in the works as evidence. A woman writer immortalized in his work about gender issues elicited a tidal counterattack sooner rather than from the Iraq threatened by the United States.
