“I want to hear, I must listen - without word.” This is what Oedipus said to the only old shepherd who knew his cruel fate. He foretold the terrible truth that he knew he was stuck in a rock. But he did not fear, and finally fulfilled his promise: blind blind eyes, so mission and fate at the same time. Self-destruct both eyes, a sharp light has been deep inside. Whenever I read him this sentence, it will have a deep psychological pain and dizziness. Do not think that Oedipus knew only the fate of his own person or city-state. In my opinion, his experience actually predicted the indefinite and fierce development of the great spiritual power of mankind. Although we are governed by this eternal return, this does not indicate the responsibility we can and must give up as a rewarded individual. This is all serious literature and premise I understand.
