丁志辉,1918年6月生于江苏无锡市河埒口大丁村一个贫苦农民的家庭,16岁时曾在无锡化新中学就读半年。抗日战争爆发后,她因生活困难,去上海一家织布厂当女工,随后参加红十字会举办的救护训练班,历时3个月。1939年6月,丁志辉在中共地下工作者的引导下,赴皖南参加新四军,被派往新四军军医处卫训班学习,后任新四军1支队军医处休养所医务员,1940年6月加入中国共产党。10月,她参加了陈毅指挥的有名的黄桥战役,三天四夜没休息,和战友们一起奋力抢救了三四百名伤员,圆满地完成了战地救护任务。
Ding Zhihui, born in June 1918 in a poor peasant family in Dading Village, Hekou, Wuxi, Jiangsu, was enrolled in Wuxi Huaxin High School for six months when he was 16 years old. After the war of resistance against Japan broke out, she went to work as a women worker in a weaving factory in Shanghai because of her life difficulties, and then took part in the rescue training course organized by the Red Cross which lasted for 3 months. In June 1939, under the guidance of underground workers, Ding Zhihui went to Wannan to join the New Fourth Army and was assigned to the New Fourth Army Military Medical Training Class. Later, he took the post of Medical Staff of the New Fourth Army Detachment Military Medical Retreat. In 1940 June, he joined the Communist Party of China. In October, she participated in the battle of yellow bridge under the command of Chen Yi. She did not rest in three days and four nights and struggled to rescue three or four hundred wounded people with her comrades, and successfully completed the battlefield rescue mission.
