西周时期宗法制建构的完成,是基于宗族势力的强盛,尤其是在“宗”之地位的提升。宗族二字,本义有别:族指全体有血缘关系的人;宗则是亲族中奉一人为主。《诗·大雅·公刘》:“君之宗之。”《毛传》:“为之君,为之大宗也。”《郑笺》:“宗,尊也。”又《礼记·丧服传》:“大宗者,尊之统也。”《丧服小记》:“尊祖故敬宗。”班固《白虎通·宗族》总述其义云:“宗者,何谓也?尊也。为先祖主者,宗人之所尊也。《礼》曰:‘宗人将有事,族人皆侍。’古者所以必有宗,何
