杂种马褂木是南京林学院叶培忠教授通过中国马褂木与美国鹅掌楸杂交选育而成的良种,具有生长快、生长期长、抗病等优良性状.目前,杂种马褂木已成为园林绿化的重要树种之一.南京清凉山公园从1980年开始引种杂种马褂木,共引种3批,分别是1980年引种31株,1981年引种41株,1986年引种16株.引种的杂种马褂木多栽于公园的主干道旁和崇贞书院前.清凉山地处南京西域,海拔66米,土质疏松,排水良好,但土层较薄.因此,在种植杂种马褂木时,树坑挖的直径为80~100厘米,深80厘米,并回填垃圾土.据1988年调查,1980年引种的杂种马褂木,最大的树高已达15.3米,胸径达29.5厘米(表1).南京毛纺厂从1986年开始引种杂种马褂木,共引种3批,分别是1986年引种50株,死5株,1987年引种8株,死1株,1988年引种20株,死6株.引种的杂种马褂木主要作为厂区的行道树.南京毛纺厂地处长江北岸,厂区原为稻田土,建厂时填了1米深的客土,在栽种杂种马褂木时,树坑的直径为100厘米,深80厘米,并在有建筑垃圾的地方换了
