【Abstract】The ultimate goal of second language vocabulary acquisition (SLVA) is to improve cross-cultural competence (CCC).From the perspective of CCC,this writing is to investigate the influence of the CCC on SLVA.Acquired vocabulary should be converted into lexical competence first and then in turn into communicative competence.Remembering a word needs to be changed into understanding a word,taking into account the semantic sense relations,and then SLVA will be more beneficial and effective.

1.Introduction
The aim of “vocabulary acquisition of second language” (henceforth SLVA) is to improve the construct of “cross-cultural communicative competence” (henceforth CCC).However,this fact has been ignored for a long period of time.In order to make rational and effectual second language acquisition,it is necessary and important to exam and improves second language acquisition from the perspective of cross-cultural communicative competence.
2.Literature review
2.1 Cross-cultural Communicative Competence
Chomsky (1965) made a distinction between “competence” and “performance” .Communicative competence roughly refers to a language user’s lexical knowledge,grammatical knowledge,and cultural knowledge about how to make utterances appropriately.
Gudykunst (2003) had a discussion of “Intercultural communicative competence” (henceforth ICC)
Byram thinks that awareness is central and especially critical to cross-cultural development.
2.2 Vocabulary Acquisition of Second Language
Introducing Second Language Acquisition gives a general survey of the study of second language acquisition.It explains how a second language is acquired; what the second language learner needs to know; and why some learners are more successful than others.And it also takes an interdisciplinary approach,encouraging students to consider SLA from linguistic,psychological and social perspectives.
3.The Influence of the CCC theory on SLVA
It is better to integrate the process of SLVA and the cultivation of CCC.Acquire vocabulary as one part of acquiring culture.And through CCC improve the ability of understanding words according to different situations and collocation.
3.1 Adequate vocabulary acquisition is necessary
The vocabulary acquisition by most students is not adequate.Word knowledge includes phonological,orthographic,morphological,syntactic and semantic knowledge.
