Today, when photography and image-making technologies are highly developed, what to paint and how to paint them becomes a serious problem for painters. Realistic painting moves towards abstract, freehand and surreal under the pressure of photography; then it goes beyond the boundary of painting to the installation, behavior and imagery; or becomes the vassal of photography and transcribes the image. As the technology continues to evolve, the unique skills that have been held by the painters in the past have all along turned into overt secrets.
