在世界地震带上中国位于欧亚地震带和环太平洋地震带上,是属于地震多发国家。地震引起房屋倒塌,导致人员伤亡,给经济造成巨大损失。在当代,钢筋混泥土结构是建筑施工的主要材料,在我国基本上达到了世界产量的48%左右。如何加强建筑的抗震性,成为当代建筑师和工程师主要研究之一。人们无法预知地震何时到来,也无法排除地震发生的可能性,人们能做到的是加强建筑的抗震性,提高钢筋混泥土结构的抗震性,尽最大的努力减少地震灾害带来的伤亡率和经济损失。
