Ernest Karenbach used the notions of feminism and gender equality in his two ecologically novel “Eco-Utopia” and the prequel “The Birth of Eco-Utopia.” The feminist perspective is of great importance in both novels, as evidenced by the establishment of gender equality, the willingness of men to recognize the contribution of women to society and the potential leadership of women, which is absolutely necessary for building a non-exploitative society. Like the ecofeminists, Carrenbach believes that only such a society and an economy based on sustainable development can fit in with the nature of mankind and human beings. This essay tries to explore how Carrenbach presented the relationship between gender and ecology in these two novels through the textual reading of “the birth of ecological utopia” and “ecological utopia.”
