Different approaches to translation study are based on different views of meaning understanding. Under cognitive linguistics, translation is not viewed in terms of equivalence, or in terms of rewriting or recreation. The cognitive resources constructing the same the similar meanings by different languages may be quite different because different languages have developed different ways of prompting the required cognitive construction. By examining the construal shifts or transformation made by different translators, we can describe how translator establishes linguistic cues to activate meanings in the target text. In this paper, we elaborated on the application of cognitive linguistics in translation study.
