英语教学中体态语言的正确运用,是教学艺术中一个基本和重要的组成部分。教师在教学中完成“传道、授业、解惑”的任务,就离不开教学语言这个必要的手段。教师在教学中运用具体生动、形象鲜明、准确精炼、情感激越、妙趣横生的体态语言,常常使教学艺术锦上添花,不仅有助于教学任务的完成,而且还可激发学习兴趣,给学生以极大的美感享受。体态语言更是一种极为微妙的沟通师生感情、加强师生联系的工具,即教师可以通过人的面部表情、手势动作、身体姿势等来传递信息的一种非语言交流(the nonverbal communication)。
