白玉兰是我国著名的庭院观赏花木。栽培历史长达2500年之久。因其花“色白微碧,香味似兰”,故称玉兰。“迎春开趁早春时,粉腻香温玉斫姿。容易阶庭长得见,人从天上望琼枝。”这是诗人孙星衍描绘玉兰花姿俏丽的妙笔。玉兰花开裂九瓣,花瓣敦厚粉腻,扬花时枝头犹如竖立着千百只玉杯,微微上翘,风吹似有“把酒问青天”的飘逸神韵以及“参差 Magnolia is a famous garden ornamental flower in China.
