Objective To understand the status quo of high-risk behaviors of residents in two districts of Guangzhou and to explore the influence of social support on high-risk sexual behavior of the population. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted in Yuexiu District and Tianhe District of Guangzhou City. Spatial sampling based on population probability was used to randomly select the survey sites. A questionnaire was randomly selected from residents aged 18-59 in residential buildings in each survey site. . The survey included socio-demographic characteristics, physiological and mental health status, health behaviors and high-risk behaviors. The social support rating scale was used to assess the social support status. Results A total of 1 215 survey sites were randomly sampled. The actual survey was 765, with a response rate of 62.96%. The reported self-reported multiple sexual partners and non-protective behaviors were 18.25% and 52.51% respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the subjective support (OR = 0.901, 95% CI: 0.847-0.9558) in social support was the protective factor in reducing the incidence of multiple sexual partners, but the supportive utilization (OR = 0.844, 95% CI : 0.740 ~ 0.962) is a protective factor to reduce non-protective behavior. The results show that age, gender, marital status and alcohol abuse also affect the risk of high-risk behavior in the population. Conclusion In areas with a high proportion of high-risk groups, attention should be paid to education and guidance on health behaviors such as high-risk sexual behaviors, especially those who are older, women and alcohol abusers, and to improve their social support so as to reduce their occurrence of high-risk sexual behaviors. Conducive to the prevention and control of sexually transmitted diseases.
