The U.S. FDA has agreed that Alza’s methylphenidate (Concerta) should be used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children 6 years of age or older. Alza believes the FDA passed a resolution that decided that methylphenidate should be used to treat ADHD beginning in May 2000 and that the drug is expected to begin in the 2000 academic year
