音乐风格的辨别,或说对某特定作品出自哪一作曲家及时代的辨别,是音乐史学课程最基本的能力目标。为了实现这一目标,许多音乐教育者以年代顺序介绍音乐作品,结合历史背景讲解各种音乐体裁和流派的演进过程。这种教学方法的前提是:“音乐风格的知觉是音乐史学家的分类学理论,即与历史时期相符的”。在风格问题上,听赏者究竟使用些什么具体的手段或窍门对音乐给予分类呢?所谓主导知觉维度,在资浅听赏者和资深听赏者之间是否相同呢?显然,有关音乐作品的各种特征的知识在个体的音乐风格知觉中起着最主要的影响。这一点,对理解个体音乐风格判断的心理过程是极为重要的。
The identification of musical styles, or the distinction of a composer and a contemporary from which a particular work is derived, is the most basic ability goal of music historiography.
