Xiao San, the poet once said: I am the first warrior, and then the poet. Mr. Gong Mu’s poem is linked with that song sung all over China’s land, “Go forward and forward, our troops to the sun -” magnificent military song. Both are poets and they both experienced the glorious and bumpy career of revolution. Therefore, not only did Mr. Gong Mu write the Biography of Xiao San, they provided rich and detailed historical materials, but also deeply understood the poets. Just as we read this document, we were saddened to hear the sad news about the death of Mr. Gongmu. Mr. Gong Mu sent a letter to my journal in August 1998, asking us to note that this manuscript was written 15 years ago. Maybe at that time, he also wanted to make some changes, additions and deletions, and eventually lack of energy because of the illness. Now, we will publish the legacy of Mr. Gong Mu. We would like to put our grief in mind.
