“SARS ” aroused the world’s high degree of closure. In this focus, people’s visual focus is not limited to SARS itself, it caused many thinking. Among them, the media in the face of such emergencies should play what role is a topic worth discussing. In fact, it is precisely because of the poor initial channels of information that led to the people’s right to information being harmed. The by-product is the raging gossip. The American sociologist Sebbutani used this to conclude his research on the mechanism of rumor rampage: “Rumors are substitutes for news. In fact, rumors are news that can not be developed in the normal channels. Constitute a decisive condition for the formation of rumors and even rampant. ”“ Obviously, the rumors that have been rampant with the spread of the ”SARS" reflect our media’s problems in dealing with unexpected incidents.
