The Chinese Language Modernization Society held the seventh academic conference in Tianjin on October 28-29, 2006, in commemoration of the State Council's promulgation of the “Guidelines on Putonghua Promotions” and the 50th Anniversary of the Simplified Chinese Character Scheme.
