Kurt Hahn, a distinguished German educator, who felt that the classical school curriculum was inadequate to develop a well-rounded individual. He first experimented with his educational ideas before World War Ⅱ while he was the headmaster of a famous school, Gordonstoun in Scotland. The first Outward Bound center was founded in Britain in 1941, using sea training to help British seamen at risk develop character and courage during World War Ⅱ.
