1. Overview In order to combine the advantages of a two-pulse booster system with the pulse converter booster system, a new compound booster system was developed at Wartsila’s Vasa plant in Finland. The system is suitable for four-, eight- and sixteen-cylinder engines and is currently used on all four-cylinder marine engines at Vasa.
