The research reported in this paper is from a sub-contract of McDonnell Douglas Airways. Infrared focal plane array technology has been rapidly evolving over the past two years, promising the promise of forward looking infrared systems and advanced seeker designs. American Radio Corporation (RCA) is at the forefront of this technology and has used its focal plane array technology in the seeker described herein. This article is divided into four parts. The first part briefly describes the RCA infrared Schottky barrier focal plane array technology. Since the technique has been thoroughly described in several monographs, it is mentioned here only briefly, and a list of bibliographies is provided, from which interested persons can gain more knowledge. The second and third parts detail the key performance parameters of the seeker and the parameter indexes determined in the scheme design. The fourth part is a summary of the results.
