The Mercato Italian Coastal Restaurant, run by Jean-Georges vongerichten, a Michelin-starred chef in France, is located on the sixth floor of the famous Bund 3 and is the first restaurant in Shanghai to offer upscale Italian “farm-style” cuisine, This 1,000-square-meter restaurant is designed not only to chef-cooks but also to blend in with the historic setting of the restaurant's architecture, recalling the early 20th century when the bustling Bund was the industrial hub of Shanghai. For example, the Design Studio has its own concept and method for creating a sense of history, and the restaurant's atmosphere is just right by demonstrating the exquisite combination of historical impressions and plain materials.
