一、引言彼得·斯特雷文斯(Peter Strevens)教授曾为《语言教学与语言学文摘》一九七七年第十卷第3期写过特定目的英语(ES-P)概观,本文是当时斯氏一文的现代化。斯特雷文斯的文章中,ESP 的诸定义、前提、理论基础和教学方法的说明,依然明确,时经六年而未陈旧。目前这篇文章的新异之处在于一九七七年以来的研究成果和事件,也多多少少论及诸多趋势的发展——特别论及那些可以表明 ESP 正在进入后期前阶段的趋势或暗示研究与发展新方向的趋势。本文也颇受益于一九七七年以来别的

INTRODUCTION Professor Peter Strevens once wrote an overview of Specific Objective English (ES-P) for the “Volume 10 of Language Teaching and Linguistics Abstracts,” Volume 7, The text of Sri Lanka was modernized. In his article, ESP’s descriptions of ESP’s definitions, premises, theoretical bases, and pedagogical methods are still clear. After six years, they have not become obsolete.
