The environmental impacts of mining and mineral processing industries include the destruction of natural ecosystems, alteration of the river’s normal characteristics and groundwater levels, and other serious ecological hazards. Water is likely to become an important resource in this century and, in most countries, the mining industry is competing for this share of resources. At first glance, the Kyoto agreement seems to be related only to the coal and power industries, but it should not be forgotten that the mining and mineral processing industry is an important power consumer. Therefore, the Kyoto Protocol is accepted by most developed countries and the introduction of a carbon offset trade program will inevitably affect the mining industry due to higher utilization costs and waste discharge costs. Obviously, the mining industry will face many challenges in the coming years. The commitment of the mining industry to sustainable development needs to be continued so that these challenges can be met more effectively. With the globalization of the mining industry, it is a good time for the mining industry to sign an international agreement on how the mining industry can achieve sustainable development in the coming years; it must be a step-by-step approach, Otherwise, the government will force the industrial sector to change, which is not necessarily the best outcome for the mining industry.
