Africa under colonial rule. Africa is a vast continent with rich resources and a long history. However, starting from the 15th century, the Western powers such as Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy and Germany, with their swords and fires, gradually reduced some primitive ancient African and tribal settlements in Africa to “colonies” of Western powers, “Protecting the country,” “overseas provinces,” and “hosting land.” Until the end of World War II, Africa had only three independent countries.
