In the 5th issue of “Modern Chinese” in 2004, a book entitled “Unexpected” and “Unexpected” was published, saying that “unexpected” usage cannot withstand scrutiny. “Out” means “exceeding”. “Beyond the expectations of people” can be, “Beyond people’s expectations” is a hybrid structure. Therefore, from a normative language point of view, “unexpected” and “unexpected” can only choose one. The author believes that this view is worth discussing. The reasons are as follows: First, from the semantic analysis, “out of expectation” can be reasonably explained. Regardless of ancient Chinese or modern Chinese, the phenomenon of polysemy is commonly found. In different contexts, the meaning of words is likely to be different.
