Ravi Shankar is a famous Indian contemporary musician, composer and sitar player. His music collection is a combination of nationality, tradition and blending. Since 1930, during his decades of artistic practice, he has exchanged and cooperated with many music masters from different countries for many times, bridging the gap between India music and the world. He not only pushed Indian traditional music to the west, but also spread Indian national spirit and national culture all over the world. As early as the end of the 19th century, the phenomenon of musical creation blending western and non-western music and culture began to sprout. In the works, the choice and application of “different culture” factors gradually became the means of musician’s music creation. In this paper, we use the research methods of musicology and ethnomusicology to analyze the phenomena of blending Indian music culture with western music culture in the artistic practice of Ravi Shankar, looking for the integration of Indian native music and Western music Cognition and reaction as well as the development of musicians themselves practiced in this area in the mid and late 20th century. At the same time, it provides the basis for musicians to borrow music from different cultural factors for their own use.
