"Many people S hometown has died or is dying. But we can do nothing to stop that. " Sheng Keyi盛可以 , known for her novelties, lately launched her Jirst prose work- Why Hasn 't Spring Come Yet. This book is special because each prose included is accompanied with a piece of ink wash painting painted by the authOF: The paintings and words covered are full of fun, love and also sadness. By virtue of these words and paintings, she expresses her yearning for the pure and siYnple hometown and childhood with warm and soft emotion instead of her consistent incisive sense.
Novelist Sheng Keyi's works are featured with sharpness. In 2011, she won the "Top 20 Great Writers in the Future" and was praised Like this: Sheng Keyi's novels are incisive and powerfuL Her dissection on Life is so thorough that she refuses all tender feelings but directly shows you the essence of things. Her sight is clear, incisive, refined and brave. She has iron nerves for Life. What's more important, her Literary talent is as much as her nobleness in mind. Therefore, in her novels, the contents impacting usual Life is also accompanied with the innocence, smartness and curiousness of children.
"Being fearless" is just the original purpose of Sheng Keyi when stepping on the road of noveL In 2002, he quitted her job and put her heart and soul in creating full-length novels in her small room. With no specialized training or economic support, she insisted just with her inner desire and wrote 600,000 characters within a year. The Popular Girl of North is one of works she wrote that year. In over ten years, she published six full-length novels including Milk and Water and Ode to Morality, many nave Lettes and short stories such as White Paper and Spare You a Room.Yet, her new work Why Hasn't Spring Come Yet shows her "childlike innocence, smartness and curiousness',which can be regarded as the expression of the original and softest herself.
She was born in a village in Yiyang, Hunan Province. When she was young, she played hide-and- seek on the field of sunflowers, fished frogs at the edge of reed marshes, caught dragonflies on the field of iris Laevigata; in those days, the space Lighted by kerosene Lamp was the brightest night, insects were her toys, stolen watermelons tasted the best... In Why Hasn't Spring Come Yet,freedom and naivete in childhood are full of the contents and paintings."When we get tired,we would Lie on the grassland, pick two grass blades to cross them and then pull to compete which one would break first. Listening to the croak of frogs, rustling of reeds and singing of birds, we sleep in the breeze. We fly in the dream and become happier after wake up." Sheng Keyi showed herself at Jiangsu Book Fair and pleasantly told the media and readers on site,"Since I finish Why Hasn't Spring Come Yet, I win many Little readers aged five or six. This is really a surprise for me." Why Hasn't Spring Come Yet is a collection of prose and a Lso a picture book. The theme of these pictures focuses on the loneness and love in childhood. Sheng Keyi said in frank that she actually didn't accept any specialized or systematic painting training."l'd never painted before this. One day, when I decided to clear away the Left ink for writing,l casually drew a picture of walking the dog and then I became interested in painting. After that, I immersed in painting for three months. Perhaps, it was because I had combed my emotions in childhood and hometown,so I stopped the painting, feeling especially happy." This is the words about painting explained by Sheng Keyi.
Sheng Keyi always thinks of herself in childhood. She can still image the girl who wears a "straight braid" on the top of head and plays everywhere in the rural area, feeling free and alone. She said,"I especially want to go back to Look at her and talk to her, because I was very Lonely at that time. In a village, there was no good way for entertainment and people were Living in poverty. But the village was very beautiful and people there were honest and simple."
In her pictures, a Little girl in red coat and green trousers always appears together with a small black dog, which is the memory of her childhood. The small dog kept by Sheng Keyi's parents in her hometown died when it was six months old due to eating poison by mistake. She misses the dog, so she painted it in pictures to accompany the little girl to see Lotus pool by covering a Lotus Leaf on head,to pick fruits,to count piglets and to return her hometown in pictures.
"My hometown and childhood provide me a steady flow of writing materials. But some people are still in the village, while some have gone to big cities." said Sheng Keyi. This book shows her beautiful memory of hometown. "Children can read fun and adults can read sadness." Some readers comment Why Hasn't Spring Come Yet Like this: the sadness Lies in that some people Lose the beauty of hometown as well as the childhood. In this book, the author not only expresses her yearning for hometown, but also describe the current situation-"ln my village that Lacks water, any poolcan quench our thirst."
Going to a city or a remote place is the childhood dream of children living in rural areas. But when they grow up and Live and work in cities, the once hometown becomes a foreign land for them. This is also true to Sheng Keyi. She wrote in Pick s0me Flowers for Mother,"I ought to back a few times more, especially in spring with flowers blooming, so as to pick some flowers to her:' Because of this, this book is designed with a warm detail-lt selects four pictures themed with spring, summer, autumn and winter to make them into cards and these cards will be presented to readers with the book.lt invites those Living on the foreign Land to send a greeting card to the hometown in heart in each spring.
