The ability of several metal phthalocyanines to generate singlet oxygen and superoxide anion was compared. The results show that their ability to produce ~ 1 O 2 is related to the electronic structure of the central metal, which depends on the triplet lifetime and quantum yield. The transient absorption of GaTSPc ~ - at 560 nm was detected and further reaction occurred O_i ~ - in the presence of oxygen.
