Objective To explore the differences and influencing factors of functional ntness (FF) in elderly men and women in China and Japan. Methods The height, weight and functional fitness of elderly men and women in China and Japan were measured. Results The FF index of Japanese elderly men in three age groups was significantly higher than that of Chinese elderly men except for the difference of one-leg balance with eyes closed (OLB) in 70-79 years old , The difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). The body mass index of Chinese males in both 60-69 and 70-79 age groups were significantly higher than that of Japanese males (P <0.01). There was no significant difference in body mass index between the 80-year-olds (P> 0.05). Conclusion The FF index of Japanese elderly men is significantly higher than that of Chinese elderly men, and the degree of body fat has a certain impact on FF.
