Phenylketonuria (PKU) is an autosomal recessive disease that can be diagnosed and treated early by neonatal screening. However, data indicate that even in early-treated PKU children, there are still mental problems such as executive dysfunction, cognitive deficits, and introverted behavior problems. Parents of PKU children are also prone to anxiety and other negative emotions. Patients with PKU The level of mother phenylalanine had an impact on the mental and behavioral development of her offspring. To ensure the development of children with PKU and improve their quality of life, it is recommended that parents and children be psychologically intervened and treated.
