教读法的教学目的、方法、内容及其安排,经过精心提炼,有机组合,已成为一项系统工程。第一,主要目的。作为一个系统,必定具备某种特定功能,若有多种功能必以一种为主。教读法的主要目的是培养学生的读书能力。读书能力是听、说、写能力的基础。所谓读书能力,实质是运用有关知识分析文章所反映的客观事物的能力。有了这种能力,说话或写作时,有能力分析自己所要说或要写的事物,听别人说话,也有能力分析对方所说的事物,抓住问题。还有,学生读书,能学到很多词汇,句式和表达方法,有利于提高表达能力。再则,各项读书练习本身,也是写作练习。
