From mid-May 1976 to the end of June 1976, a Hepatitis A outbreak took place in an intelligent correctional facility in the United States. Surveys have shown that they are caused by a common source of infection and spread through food contamination. The hospital was originally a high incidence of hepatitis B infection. Of the 105 patients, 17 were HBsAg positive (16%) and 61 were anti-HBs (58%). Duplex serum tests during the hepatitis A epidemic showed no seroconversion to HBsAg or anti-HBs in 105 of the patients.
