Certain drugs that have a second messenger-like role in cell-mediated signaling can significantly affect immune cell function. The regulation of surface antigen expression by the second messenger is a part of this effect. Such drugs as cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and diacylglycerol (DAG) activate phosphoproteome kinases and promote phosphorylation and the inward migration of certain lymphocyte membrane proteins. It has been reported that DAG substance tetradecanoate acetate (PMA) can promote T cell antigen CD3, CD4 and CD8 internal migration. cAMP has a negative regulatory effect on lymphocyte activation-related antigens such as IL-2 receptor, transferrin receptor and 4F2 antigen.
