On the one hand, the “thriving empire of the 19th century” represented a highly prosperous industrial civilization on the one hand, and “the era of hunger” recorded in historical records on the other. In the survival environment full of oppression and plunder, the Western traditional values have been challenged unprecedentedly. In this context, Charles Dickens (1812-1870) ~ ([1]) boarded the stage of history. Dickens is an outstanding representative of British critical realism literature and also a writer comparable to Shakespeare in the history of British modern literature. His works are widely known in the English-speaking world. As a rare civilian writer who grew up in Victorian times, Dickens’s literary creation has always kept pace with the times. The irony and censure brush strokes involve all aspects of society and politics, economy, law and morality.
