机车柴油机大部分时间是在部分负荷和空转工况下工作。为了节省燃料消耗,在所有的运用范围内保证由增压机组供给所需要的空气,并使供油系统工作均衡是很重要的。众所周知,采用对部分气缸断油的方法能够改善柴油机在空转时的经济性。但在这些气缸中仍在进行无用的压缩空气和排出空气,由于非工作气缸的冷空气冲淡了工作气缸排出的燃气,因而降低了增压器的效率。因此,在柴油机上最好采用能同时切断供给燃料和空气的装置。这对直流扫气和气阀扫气的柴油机来说

In order to save on fuel consumption, it is important to ensure that the required air supply by the turbocharging unit is balanced across all operating ranges and to equalize the fueling system. As we all know, the method of cutting off some cylinders can improve the economic performance of diesel engine during idling. However, still useless compressed air and exhaust air are still running in these cylinders, and the efficiency of the turbocharger is reduced because the cool air of the non-operating cylinder dilutes the gas discharged from the working cylinder.
