十几年前,当CCITT提出B_ISDN并将ATM选定为实现综合业务的标准传输协议时,人们曾为之兴奋不已,翘首期盼B_ISDN的早日到来。但由于ATM技术及其标准尚未完善,更因为Internet以出人意料的速度迅猛发展,使得人们将热情和注意力由B_ISDN和ATM转移到以TCP/IP协议为基础的Internet上。在世界网络业务中电话业务年增长率为10％,而数据业务则年增长40％,到2020年电话业务由目前的主业务将成为只占1％份额的副业。所有这些又使人们对电信网络发展的热情重新高涨起来,整个电信工业界都在驱动着电信网络向同一个方向发展:多业务数据网。
More than a decade ago, when CCITT proposed B_ISDN and selected ATM as the standard transport protocol for implementing integrated services, people were so excited and eagerly anticipating the early arrival of B_ISDN. However, due to the fact that ATM technology and its standards have not been improved yet, the rapid development of the Internet at an unexpected speed has led to the shift of enthusiasm and attention from B_ISDN and ATM to the Internet based on the TCP / IP protocol. In the world network business telephone business annual growth rate of 10%, while the data services is an annual increase of 40% by 2020 the telephone business from the current main business will be only 1% share of the sideline. All of these have rekindled the enthusiasm for the development of the telecommunications network.
